Integrated of System of Tourist Quality in Destination

The SICTED is one of the most ambitious projects of the PICTE (Integral Plan of the Spanish Tourist quality). Its based on a pattern which is an integrated system for controlling nthe quality of tourism throughout the whole of Spain

• It is sponsored by the Federación Española of Municipals and Provinces (FEMP).
• It is financed by the Secretaria General of Tourism.

El SICTED Thinks that the quality of the tourist destination depends on several items:
• Sub sessions already developed the SCTE
• New sun sessions not developed before.
• Municipal public non tourist services.
• Municipal touristic services.

The objective is to maintain a high level of homogeneous quality in one destination.

Pilares de la implantación del modeloThe mainstay of the implantation of the model:

• To provide the tool to measure the quality of the destination.
• To provide written guidelines of good practice in the business and destination service.
• Creation of a management figure (in Ribadesella a quality committee).

WHAT IS THE CRITERIA TO OBTAIN THIS DISTICTION?

• The establishment/The service should be joined to SICTED for at least 6 months.
• They should attend facilities run by SICTED such as training courses, technical assistence and meeting to improve the resort.
• They have to have the essential qualifications in the MBP.
• They should have the qualifications and promise to adhere to the standard set by SICTED.
• The checking of this standard is set by an external audit.
• The report from the audit will be passed to the certification committee to decide if the establishment has reached the required standard.

WHAT IS THE REPROCUSSION TO PROVIDE SICTED IN DESTINATION?

To provide SICTED is a unique opportunity for all the businesses around tourism, which have a common objective: That all the improvements are going to be balanced by and excellent management of the business resulting in satisfaction and loyalty of the customer.

• Garantee to the visitor an integral quality to the service (public or private).
• It is important to develop improvements in the service that is offered.
• To add value to the business and for the members of SICTED.

WHAT RESORTS ARE WORKING WITH SICTED?

in 2007 more than 80 destinations all over Spain participated and contributed to make Spain a quality destination. This was done by grouping the type of destination together. Ribadesella is a maritime village (Villas Marineras). The most important typologies are:

Sun and beach (SOL and PLAYA) : Lanzarote, the Ejido, Cambrils, the Vendrell, Menorca, Palma of Mallorca, Calviá and Baix Ampordá.

Urban-culteral (URBANO-CULTURAL) : Lorca, Lleida, Lugo, Cartagena, Logroño, Ceuta, Granada, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Valencia and Oviedo.

RURAL: Montaña of Navarra, Seo d'Urgell, Vall of Sau-Collsacabra, Sierra Norte of Extremadura, Gúdar-Javalambre, Municipios of the Ribera of the Tajo, Sto. Domingo of the Calzada , Benasque, Plasencia-Valle of the Jerte, Jaca-Valle of Aragón.

Villages with natural spas (VILLAS TERMALES) : Archena, Caldes of Montbui, Liérganes, Puente Viesgo and Montanejos.

Historic cities (CIUDADES PATRIMONIO) : Santiago of Compostela, Segovia, Ávila, Cuenca, Cáceres, Salamanca, Toledo and Córdoba.

Maritime villages (VILLAS MARINERAS) : Baiona, Sanxenxo, Cudillero, Gijón, Ribadesella, Llanes, San Vicente of the Barquera and Laredo.
