The beach of Santa Marina, the main urban beach of Ribadesella, it is a sandy beach of around a kilometre, defined by a splendid walk, with all the services you need from a quality beach. In the summer of 2004, together with 5 other beaches in Spain, Ribadesella obtained the Q of tourist Quality for the first time; it was the first time that beaches were certified. From then it on it has been maintaining and increasing the level of quality for all the facilities and services of the beach. Succeeding in maintaining the Q certification annually, and every year with better marks.

THE POLICY OF QUALITY OF THE SANTA MARINA BEACH

The city council of Ribadesella in plenary session celebrated on the 25 of February of 2004, approved:

The Policy for the quality and the environment administration of the beach of Santa Marina is described below:

“"The city council of Ribadesella has implanted a system of administration of quality and environment according to the ICTE Norm in the beach of Santa Marina "System of Administration for beaches," with the purpose of achieving the satisfaction of all those that visit this beach of the municipality, endowing to the same of some services of quality.

The city council of Ribadesella is providing a system of administration of quality and environment, want to offer their visitors a protected ecosystem and with a high natural value, as well as some services of quality accords to the requirements of the rule.

The city council commits, within their possibilities, to establish the technical and economic necessary resources, in order to stop the contamination and prevent it at its origin, as well as preventing and eliminating any impact that could cause contamination and the consequences of, insofar as possible. It guarantee, in turn, to pursue all those activities that are carried out in the coast, establishing mechanisms of continuous improvement, in collaboration with all the sectors of the municipality, assuring the improvement of environmental quality of the of the services.

In the development of all those activities that are carried out in the coast of Ribadesella, the city council commits itself to establish initiatives that assures the execution of the laws and regulations. At the same time, the demands of the users or other applicable requirements and the activities that they develop on the beach, as well as, promote the participation of all personnel and users in the protection and improvement of the coast, by means of mechanisms of training courses and awareness of the environment.

The town hall defines the definitions and will evaluate objectives of quality and environment on the beach of Santa Marina periodically. In order to maintain continuous improvement of standards.

The coast is for everyone to enjoy. The city council wants that everyone collaborates in this project to satisfy all the users of beach of Santa Marina, Ribadesella.

The city council of Ribadesella is aware that the protection of the environment is of paramount importance and also the benefits of quality services to the citizens. It is committed to continue sustainable development from strategies in accordance with Calendar 21 local, the System of Integrated Administration Quality and environment of the beaches of the municipality, with the purpose of fomenting initiatives that contribute to the protection of the environment and improvement of the quality of the services. They guarantee the satisfaction of all the users of the beaches.

This policy of environmental protection and of quality of the beach of Santa Marina the principles that are going to govern, are from now on are:

• " The identification and evaluation of environmental impacts derived of the administration of the beaches, in order to reduce problems or eliminate them insofar as possible, with the purpose of preventing the environmental contamination, and so reach the improvement policy defined by the System of Integrated Administration.”
• “The execution of the legislation and effective policies apply to the integral administration of the coast of Ribadesella, as well as to the quality of their waters and with the consent of users of the service.”
• “Establish some objectives and endow the necessary resources, which will be revised and modernized periodically to address changes, in order to assure the continuous improvement of the environmental behaviour and the prevention of the contamination.”
• “Look to preserving the natural resources, through the search of quality in carrying out processes, to minimizing the use of stated resources using methods of eco-efficiency.”
• “The realization of the plans of formation of environmental education with the objective of making all employees aware of the protection of the coastal environment and the needs of the users of the beach.”
• “Don’t spare costs on efforts in covering the necessities and expectations of the users of our beaches and allow continuous increase in satisfaction.”
• “And in definitive, adopt the commitment of the continuous improvement of the System of Integrated Administration.”
